This is our first episode in our new Nutrition and Mental Health podcast series.
Nutritional psychiatry is a new field within psychiatry focused on the mental health impact of food. In this episode, we speak with Dr. Drew Ramsey, MD, clinical professor of psychiatry at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, about this new field and why the link between diet and mental health is becoming of interest today. We focus on Dr. Ramsey’s book Eat Complete and how a whole foods diet can help with mood disorders, depression and mental health complexities. Dr. Ramsey talks about how a plant-based diet with thoughtful sources of protein is key for optimal health. Dr. Ramsey also covers his top five brain foods.
